Joni Lamb, prominent Christian broadcaster and president of the Daystar Television Network, died on Thursday, the network announced.
She was 65.
The network said that she had been struggling with health issues that were worsened by a back injury.
“Lamb had been dealing with serious health issues that she chose to face head-on and in private. The back injury compounded those challenges and led to a more serious medical situation than anyone had anticipated,” Daystar Television Network said in the Thursday statement.
“Despite the dedicated efforts of her medical team and the prayers of so many around the world, her condition worsened in the last few days.”
She was described in her bio on the Daystar website as daring, authentic and fiercely committed to sharing the gospel with the world.
“We grieve her loss, and we are grateful for the legacy of faith she leaves behind,” the Daystar Board of Directors said in the statement.
Daystar Television Network was founded by Joni Lamb and her late husband, Marcus Lamb, in 1993.
After his death in November 2021, Joni Lamb wrote that less than a year into their marriage, while on a trip to Israel, the Lord spoke to Marcus and told him to build a Christian television station.
According to the network’s website, Daystar began as a single station in the Dallas–Fort Worth area and later grew into one of the largest Christian broadcast networks in the world.
Daystar says it is seen in 2.3 billion homes worldwide through cable carriers and satellite systems, reaching over 7 billion viewers.
Joni Lamb remarried in 2023 to Dr. Doug Weiss.
Lamb spent four decades on-air and behind the scenes, the network said while announcing her death. She built “a ministry that brought the gospel into millions of homes.”
“Daystar’s mission does not change today. Previously, Lamb worked with the board to ensure an executive leadership team was in place so the ministry would continue uninterrupted,” the statement added. “Programming will proceed as scheduled, with on-air tributes to follow in the coming days.”
Lamb hosted “Joni Table Talk,” a daily program on Daystar focused on conversations about faith and current events. The show was syndicated on A+E TV, ABC, CBS, NBC and other networks.
She also appeared as a co-host on the program “Ministry Now!” with members of her family.
Her family has asked for prayers and privacy at this time.
Joni Lamb is survived by three children, son Jonathan Lamb and daughters Rachel Lamb and Rebecca Lamb Weiss.
