Kevin Hart is paying out tribute to his late father, Henry Witherspoon.
The comedian, 43, announced the dying of his father on Instagram Oct. 12, sharing a series of family members images featuring Witherspoon from above the decades.
“RIP to one particular of the realest & rawest to ever do it…Love you father,” he captioned the article. “Long gone but never ever overlooked.”
In his concept, Hart informed Witherspoon to give mom Nancy, who died in 2007 just after a struggle with ovarian most cancers, “a hug for me,” noting “y’all did superior male.” He then went on to express his gratitude for his father.
“Thank you for everything….I’m a much better father since of you,” the “Jumanji” actor continued. “We will all make you proud….”
In a different publish, Hart shared a picture of him and Witherspoon smiling, captioning it, “RIP spoon.”
Hart did not share Witherspoon’s trigger of loss of life. Nonetheless, in his 2019 docuseries “Kevin Hart: Will not F***This Up,” the “Evening University” alum stated his father experienced battled with and crushed lung cancer but still had COPD.

Hart has spoken often about his father in his comedy specials, memoir “I Can not Make This Up: Life Lessons” and in interviews. In a 2017 visual appearance on “The Late Present With Stephen Colbert,” the “Trip Along” star recalled how Witherspoon was not generally all over and the effects this experienced on his life and parenting conclusions.
“My kids essentially believe I’m the coolest dad on the planet…. But I know why I am the way that I am,” he reported at the time. “See, my father has a lot to do with that. The issues that my dad made—the conclusions to do drugs, be in and out of jail, in and out of our lives—I saw firsthand what not remaining current did. Having said that, Hart noted that his dad later became sober and that they were able to eventually reconcile and develop a tight bond.
“Now, I was robust enough to deal with it coming up ’cause I have a unique attitude. I’m a good person. I choose to go beneficial as an alternative of adverse a whole lot. And for the reason that of that, my connection with my father is wonderful now,” he ongoing.
