John Davis, a prolific film producer in Hollywood, dropped $16.2 million on a Fisher Island condo.
Records show Davis and his wife, Jordan Davis, bought unit 7012 at 7012 Fisher Island Drive from hedge fund manager Hal Mintz and his wife, Allison Mintz.
Dora Puig with Luxe Living Realty had the listing, and Fredrik Eklund with Douglas Elliman brought the buyer.
John Davis is a longtime film producer with credits on the “Predator” films, “Dr. Doolittle” and more recently, “Jungle Cruise,” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt, according to his IMDb profile. He founded his namesake production company, Davis Entertainment, in 1984, according to published reports.
Davis is the son of the late billionaire Marvin Davis, who made a fortune in the oil business with Davis Petroleum, then went on to acquire 20th Century Fox, the Beverly Hills Hotel, the Pebble Beach Company and the Aspen Skiing Company, according to published reports. He built and sold twice Fox Plaza in Los Angeles, which was featured in the Bruce Willis film “Die Hard.”

The Mintzes bought the unit for $10.1 million in 2018, according to property records. It was built in 2016, and spans 4,500 square feet, with four bedrooms, four bathrooms and one half-bathroom, records show. It is in the island’s Palazzo Del Sol building.
In 2023, the Securities and Exchange Commission civilly charged Hal Mintz and his firm, Sabby Management, with perpetuating a long running fraud involving a short selling scheme that made them more than $2 million, allegations Mintz and Sabby deny. The case, filed with the U.S. District Court of New Jersey, is ongoing, court records show.
Records show the Mintzes bought a 0.3-acre vacant lot nearby on Fisher Island for $9.5 million in March. Coastal Homes, the luxury custom home building division of Coastal Construction, sold a waterfront 1.1-acre lot for $42.5 million earlier this month.
