Resi roundup: NFL star Jeremy Shockey buys Bay Point home



In the latest roundup of South Florida luxury residential deals, a former football star bought a home in Miami.

Deals spanned Miami to Palm Beach, and ranged in price from $4.5 million to $11.3 million.

Bay Point

In Miami’s Bay Point neighborhood, two-time Super Bowl winner Jeremy Shockey bought the house at 4150 Bay Point Road for $4.5 million, according to a press release.

The sellers are Mandy and Nancy Calara, the owners of the Voodoo Lounge in Miami Beach, records show. 

Shockey was a tight end in the NFL from 2002 to 2011, and before that played in college at the University of Miami, according to published reports.. 

The Calaras bought the home for $3.5 million in 2021, according to records. It was built on 0.4 acres in 1958, and spans 3,800 square feet, with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a pool, according to property records. 

Julian Johnston of the Corcoran Group represented both sides of the deal. 

Miami Beach

On Miami Beach’s La Gorce Island, Robert and Laura Nichols sold a non-waterfront house for $10.1 million.

Records show the Nichols sold the house at 71 La Gorce Circle to the Highlands Revocable Trust, with attorney Richard Cohen signing on behalf of the buyer. The true buyer is unknown.

The Nichols bought the 0.3-acre site for $2.4 million in 2020, records show. They completed the 4,200 square foot house in 2023, according to property records. It has five bedrooms, five bathrooms, one half-bathroom and a pool.

Jill Hertzberg and Daniel Hertzberg of Coldwell Banker Realty had the listing, and Daniel Hertzberg brought the buyer.

Palm Beach

In Palm Beach, Andrea Travaglia sold a non-waterfront house for $11.3 million.

Records show Travaglia sold the house at 127 Reef Road to a trust named for the address and managed by attorney Jack B. Owen, Jr. 

Travaglia bought the house for $5.9 million in 2020, records show. It was built on a quarter-acre in 2015, and spans 3,900 square feet, with two bedrooms, three bathrooms, one half-bathroom and a pool, according to property records.

Joshua McPherson and Farhad Farman of Douglas Elliman had the listing, and John Rooney with Douglas Elliman brought the buyer.
