Anyone warrants a probability to fly — er — see the new “Wicked” trailer.
And it turns out, tens of millions of people today did get that possibility as the new gravity-defying trailer for element one particular of the the 2024 musical adaptation, releasing later on this year, dropped all through Super Bowl LVIII commercials.
In the clip, “Wicked” followers get a live-action search at Cynthia Erivo carrying the signature all-black dress and pointed witch’s hat of her character Elphaba, a.k.a the future “Wicked Witch of the West,” as she comes at Shiz College. There, she meets Ariana Grande’s Glinda Upland — the future Excellent Witch — who gasps, “You happen to be eco-friendly,” on assembly Elphaba.
And, of training course, the clip gives a nod at Elphaba’s darkish upcoming.
“A little something just takes over me,” she explains to Glinda in the clip, “and when it does, undesirable issues transpire.”
Elsewhere in the video clip, Jonathan Bailey’s Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh’s Madame Morrible and Jeff Goldbum’s Wizard also make their official trailer debut.
But the amazing character costumes and set design and style are not the only points the “Wicked” trailer gifted us with. After all, the video clip also offers supporters a teaser of Erivo singing the musical’s traditional ballad, “Defying Gravity.”

And although the “Harriet” star absolutely impresses in the small audio clip, the 37-calendar year-old has claimed she’s primarily fired up for supporters to hear her and Grande sing with each other.
“I do not know that we realized that our voices would match so properly with each other,” Erivo shared through a Dec. 22 appearance on the “Tonight Exhibit Starring Jimmy Fallon.” “Our voices are extremely, very different. But when we sing jointly, it just performs.”
“Wicked: Element 1” is established to strike theaters Nov. 27, with Component 2 releasing Nov. 26, 2025.
