FORT LAUDERDALE – Civil legal rights legal professional Ben Crump is envisioned to file a lawsuit in opposition to the city of Hollywood and various police officers in the capturing of Michael Ortiz.
On July 3, 2021, Otiz, 42, called 911 saying he had taken drugs and was struggling from chest pains. Paramedics responded first. Ortiz, naked and agitated, emerged from a sixth-flooring condominium and threatened to soar from a balcony, reported law enforcement.
Surveillance video clip from the making demonstrates Ortiz battling with the paramedics. In accordance to Crump, law enforcement officers aggressively restrained Ortiz, placed him on the ground, tased him, and shot him in the back although he was naked and visibly unarmed.
Ortiz is now paralyzed from the waistline down and wheelchair-bound.
Talking out soon after the incident occurred, Crump mentioned the law enforcement department needs to launch the video clip that shows what occurred.
“It doesn’t include up. It doesn’t go the common feeling take a look at. You can not justify capturing a person who is encounter down, stark naked, in handcuffs in the again, and paralyze him.
