CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Soccer participant Anton Walkes, who begun his career at Tottenham, died Thursday immediately after an incident in Florida, his MLS club Charlotte FC mentioned. He was 25.
Charlotte reported in a assertion Walkes handed away early Thursday early morning, with no offering specifics of the accident.
The Miami Herald reported he was involved in a collision between two boats Wednesday in close proximity to Miami Marine Stadium.
Charlotte FC owner David Tepper explained all at the club have been “devastated by the tragic passing of Anton Walkes.”
“He was a incredible son, father, spouse and teammate whose joyous strategy to lifestyle touched all people he fulfilled,” Tepper stated in a club statement.
Walkes commenced his career with English Premier League club Tottenham and also played for Portsmouth in advance of signing with Atlanta United in MLS.
He joined Charlotte for the club’s debut MLS period in 2022.
“Anton created these all-around him superior individuals in all areas of existence and represented Charlotte FC to the greatest conventional equally on and off the pitch,” Tepper explained.
