Leah Remini Thanks Jerrod Carmichael for His Tom Cruise-Scientology Dig at 2023 Golden Globes

Leah Remini is giving Jerrod Carmichael a spherical of applause for a single of his head-turning quips.

For the duration of the 2023 Golden Globes Jan. 10, which the comedian hosted, he appeared onstage adhering to a professional crack with a few awards, joking that they were the types that Tom Cruise returned in 2021 amid the controversy surrounding the Hollywood Overseas Press Association’s deficiency of diversity.

But it was his jab at the Church of Scientology, of which Cruise is a member, that gave all people pause.

“I’m just the host or regardless of what, but I have a pitch,” Carmichael explained. “I assume it’s possible we just take these three factors and exchange them for the harmless return of Shelly Miscavige.”

Remini, a former Scientologist, has expressed worry above Shelly, who is the spouse of Scientology leader David Miscavige. Shelly’s alleged previous public look is claimed to be in 2007.

Moments after Carmichael’s joke, the “King of Queens” star responded on Twitter, producing, “Thank you Jerrod Carmichael! Where is Shelly??”

The onstage comment will come particularly two months following Remini reiterated her issues on Shelly’s whereabouts on Twitter, reflecting on the 1st time she said she inquired about her.

(Per NBC News, in 2014, Los Angeles law enforcement said that detectives built call with Shelly in response to the actress’ lacking human being request).

According to Remini, her questioning came after noticing she was not in attendance for Cruise’s 2006 marriage to Katie Holmes, which the actress mentioned was “uncommon” and “unimaginable.”

E! Information has reached out to Cruise’s reps and reps for the Church of Scientology for comment and has not heard back.
