Hollywood is mourning the loss of one of their have.
Clarence Gilyard Jr.—an actor and college or university professor whose career spanned almost four decades which include roles in “Best Gun,” “Die Really hard,” “Matlock” and “Walker, Texas Ranger,” died on Nov. 28 at the age of 66.
The College of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where Gilyard served as an affiliate professor at the School of Fantastic Arts, verified his passing and honored the actor’s legacy in a statement.
“It is with profound sadness that I share this news,” Dean Nancy J. Uscher said in a Nov. 29 statement on Instagram. “His college students were being deeply encouraged by him, as have been all who realized him. He had a lot of incredible skills and was very properly-regarded in the university by way of his devotion to training and his qualified accomplishments. He experienced a countrywide and international pursuing by means of his celebrated work in the theatre, in movie, and tv.”
“His generosity of spirit was boundless,” she continued. “He was often completely ready to lead to initiatives and performances nevertheless doable. We recall Clarence with pleasure and gratitude for all he contributed to the University of Great Arts, the UNLV group, and, through his amazing private achievements, to the globe.”
UNLV movie department chair Heather Addison also remembered Gilyard as “a beacon of mild and strength.”
“Anytime we questioned him how he was,” she noted. “He would cheerfully declare that he was ‘Blessed!’ But we are truly the kinds who were blessed to be his colleagues and learners for so numerous many years.”
Though the actor was nicely acknowledged for his remarkable occupation, as UNLV theatre professor Nate Bynum noted, the pride Gilyard had for his place as a teacher was limitless.
“Some could come across it shocking to know that Clarence valued his appointment as a college professor as very, it’s possible bigger, then his illustrious profession as a Television set star,” Bynum mentioned. “It was a key aim for him.
