West coastline evacuees driving out storm at Alligator Alley support plaza


MIAMI – Some men and women who fled Hurricane Ian’s path sought shelter in South Florida.

“I just decided last evening. I read there was likely to be huge surges and I resolved it was much better to be safe than sorry. I just drove to listed here, basically, and I am kinda camping out at the gasoline station. I am going to keep here until it goes by and then go residence,” just one female explained to CBS4’s Ted Scouten at the Miccosukee Company Plaza on Alligator Alley, off Snake Road.

She was not by itself. A person guy claimed it was the excellent place to ride out any impacts of the storm.

“It’s a parking spot, rest place for truck drivers and vacationers. It is really bought a safe and sound residence developing. The fireplace office is there and the sheriff’s division is there. They bought an ambulance that’s parked there all the time,” he stated.

Lots of stated they drove in from locations like Fort Myers, Pine Island, and Punta Gorda and stopped to get fuel due to the fact it wasn’t readily available on the west coast. Although some claimed they prepared to keep there until finally the storm passed, many others reported they have been heading to Fort Lauderdale and Miami to get a lodge.
