Massive PINE KEY — Four adult males, which includes users of at minimum just one bike gang, ended up arrested for their involvement in a battle outside of a Florida Keys cafe over the weekend.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Business office said in a Sunday press launch that 49-yr-aged Jeffrey Jones and 41-yr-previous Derek Queen of Essential West, along with 55-12 months-old Anthony Eliopulos of Ramrod Vital and 60-yr-outdated David Mirth of Significant Pine Essential had been all booked into jail right after the altercation, which took location at the Boardwalk Grill in Large Pine all-around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
According to MCSO, Jones was at the bar carrying a shirt with the symbolism of the Outlaws motorcycle gang. Then, Queen, Eliopulos and Mirth confirmed up at the bar, all sporting garments that indicated their membership of the Pagans bike gang.
Although Queen waited outdoors, Eliopulos and Mirth walked within the institution, confronted Jones and forcibly walked him outside the house, the place surveillance video clip showed them holding him in opposition to his will. They then taken off Jones’ shirt and pinned him in between two motor vehicles. At this instant, deputies arrived on the scene.
Then, Queen still left the area and the remaining a few men ended up detained for questioning — two of whom ended up handcuffed. Having said that, no one was cooperating with law enforcement. In accordance to MCSO, Jones attempted to leave “various occasions” and was regularly warned to stay on the scene until finally deputies could finish their investigation. Even so, he continued to resist deputies and was at some point handcuffed as perfectly right after becoming provided 11 warnings.
Queen was at some point detained just after he was noticed driving by the scene. All 3 of the Pagans have been then transported to jail, initially billed with resisting arrest and obstructing a criminal investigation.
Later, detectives then arrived at the bar and questioned the establishment’s supervisor for the surveillance movie having said that, they refused to launch it. With the help of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), a federal subpoena was received and the online video was released, MCSO said.
In accordance to the U.S. Justice Department (DOJ), the Outlaws and the Pagans are categorized as Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMGs).
“OMGs are corporations whose associates use their bike golf equipment as conduits for criminal enterprises,” The DOJ said. “OMGs are very structured prison organizations whose users interact in legal functions this kind of as violent crime, weapons trafficking, and drug trafficking.”
Soon after examining the video clip and interviewing Jones, Eliopulos, Mirth and Queen had been all even further billed with kidnapping/bogus imprisonment and battery. Originally, detectives believed that Jones was a member of the Outlaws however, even more investigation disclosed that he was only “just donning an Outlaw T-shirt” at the time of the incident, MCSO stated in an up-to-date push release. Jones’ affiliation with the Outlaws is mysterious.
“We will not tolerate such teams working right here in Monroe County,” said Sheriff Rick Ramsay. “We will carry on to make the investigation of gang-associated crimes a priority and will not allow for the customers of these groups to interfere with the day-to-working day life of the tranquil and legislation-abiding citizens whom we provide.”
