The long-awaited reunion of Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi is now a reality, immediately after the Uruguayan striker signed with Inter Miami on Friday for the 2024 season.
Suárez and Messi spent 6 seasons together at Barcelona, successful 4 Spanish league titles and 9 other trophies — which include a Champions League title — in that span. Suárez is coming off a period wherever he was best player and best striker in the Brazilian league with Gremio.
“I’m pretty joyful and enthusiastic to get on this new obstacle with Inter Miami,” Suárez explained. “I won’t be able to wait around to get started off, and I’m ready to work to make the dream of winning a lot more titles with this terrific club a truth. I am optimistic about what we can accomplish collectively with our shared ambition.”
There experienced been speculation for months that Suárez would join Inter Miami, especially given his relationship with Messi. Inter Miami gained its initially trophy — the Leagues Cup — last period soon soon after Messi arrived, his signing element of an overhaul that brought elite talent like Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba to the club, together with mentor Gerardo “Tata” Martino. Busquets and Alba also played for Barcelona along with Messi, and Martino is a previous Barcelona coach.
Now, Suárez joins that mix.
“I will give my all to bring pleasure to these great fans I have read so substantially about even though I put on Inter Miami hues, and appear ahead to reuniting with fantastic close friends and gamers,” Suárez reported. “I’m also keen to meet up with my new teammates and coaches.”
