FORT LAUDERDALE – The Wednesday washout made chaos at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Global Airport.
The flooding was so intense that the airport shut and law enforcement blocked off the entrance. Some tourists, so determined to catch their flights, received out on the facet of the highway and climbed up hills with their baggage to make it to the airport.
“First time we came about below, we saw some cars and trucks parked on the facet, and folks just obtained out and walked through ideal into the airport. The officer claimed that they would not let them in if they did that, but I guess some people today are taking the prospect,” explained Aaron Blogg who was heading to New York.
“We’re making an attempt to get again household, and they are telling us that the airport is closed and so at this level, we don’t know what to do,” claimed Ebony Dorsey, who’s touring to Cleveland.
All over 2 a.m. Thursday, airport officials claimed the upper amount (departures) roadway re-opened to all tourists waiting around for household or close friends to decide them up as visitors exiting the airport was distinct. The entrance to the lower amount (arrivals) was still closed.
The airport is envisioned to be shut until at minimum midday.
According to the flight monitoring business FlightAware, nearly 300 flights have been canceled.
