TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Senate could be poised this week to pass a monthly bill that would eradicate a prerequisite for unanimous jury suggestions right before dying sentences can be imposed.

The Senate is slated to choose up the monthly bill, sponsored by Sen. Blaise Ingoglia, R-Spring Hill, throughout a floor session Wednesday. The invoice would permit death sentences to be imposed based mostly on the suggestions of 8 of 12 jurors – reversing a change made in 2017 that necessary unanimity.
