Sandbag spots set up to enable inhabitants of flood inclined areas ahead of Hurricane Ian


MIAMI – As Hurricane Ian would make its way towards Florida, from Fort Lauderdale to Tampa, lots of are hoping to avoid flooding in their residences with sandbags.

Residents of minimal-lying spots susceptible to flooding know what a handful of inches of rain will bring.

In Miami-Dade, sand and sandbags will be available from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. at:

Douglas Park
2755 SW 37th Ave.

Grapeland Park
1550 NW 37th Ave.

Minor Haiti Soccer Park
6301 NE 2nd Ave.

In Fort Lauderdale, sandbags will be out there at Mills Pond Park from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Vacant bags and sand will be out there but it is self-serve so individuals will need to deliver their personal shovel and gloves.

There is a limit of up to 15 luggage for each house. Destinations will be staffed and aid will be furnished to aged folks and people with specific wants.       

Pembroke Pines will distribute sandbags to its people on Monday, from noon to 6:30 p.m., and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at two locations.

There is a restrict of 5 luggage for each household. Proof of residency is essential.
