MIAMI – On Thursday, a small boat with about 15 Cuban migrants have been uncovered off the coast of Hollywood Beach, according to U.S. Customs and Border Regulate.
Three migrants were being taken into custody for health-related screening, the rest stayed with the U.S. Coast Guard.
“They prefer to take the hazard and possibly die at sea, then dwell in a region in which they can not breathe,” stated Dr. Andy Gomez, a professor of Cuban scientific studies, at the College of Miami.
Dr. Gomez mentioned one particular of the factors for the huge influx of refugees is that lately, foods and water are just about nonexistent on the island.
“We have reached a level wherever the governing administration has unsuccessful to meet the demands of the men and women,” he stated.
Just after a medical exam, all 15 migrants will be sent back again to Cuba.
