MIAMI – The Broward Sheriff’s Office environment declared Friday the arrest of a veteran BSO deputy, who is dealing with grand theft fees.
BSO stated Michael Spencer was arrested shortly prior to 1 a.m. for the duration of his shift at the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood Intercontinental Airport.

“Wednesday night, Aug. 24, an agent from the Bureau of Alcoholic beverages, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) who assisted with the operation posed as a traveler who uncovered an unattended brown purse in the airport. The undercover ATF agent turned the purse that contained $1,664 in cash into Deputy Spencer though he was on duty, in uniform and sitting in his marked BSO automobile. The purse also contained many decoy items to give the physical appearance a traveler experienced lost it.”
Detectives say Spencer manufactured no attempts through the rest of his change, which ended at 5 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 25, to transform in the purse and its contents. Rather, they mentioned he saved the funds and discarded the purse and its contents.
Spencer noted to operate Thursday night but nevertheless did not transform in the funds, according to investigators. As a consequence, he was taken into custody Friday at close to 12:50 a.m.
