Parkland gunman sentencing trial: First look inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School

MIAMI – The jury in the sentencing trial of Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz toured the crime scene at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Thursday.

The panel and their law enforcement escorts walked through the 1200 building where the massacre happened on February 14th, 2018. They retraced the path Cruz followed as he moved from floor to floor, firing into hallways and classrooms as he went.

The jury members were not allowed to talk, ask questions, or point things out. They also couldn’t touch anything or make any recording of what they saw.

The three-story classroom building has been sealed since the Valentine’s Day 2018 shooting. The floors remain bloodstained and bullet holes remain in the walls.

They were at the school for about 90 minutes.

After the jury left, a select group of journalists was escorted into the site for the first public look. They were allowed to carry paper and pen but no cameras.
