WESTON – A call to police on Saturday has turned into an animal abuse investigation after police said they found evidence of a family cat chopped in half.
The call came in at around 1:30 p.m., about a missing cat named Misu.
Misu’s owners said they found their cat in their neighbor’s backyard located in the 1500 block of Presidio Drive.
They said their cat came in and out of their house freely and it was not uncommon for it to beoutside on its own.
Police were provided a photo of the cat’s remains.
The incident report said, “The cat appeared to be cut clean through the middle.”
“The cut is not consistent with that of animal bites/attacks and appeared to be intentional. There was no
blood on the cat or in the grass surrounding the cat. The back half of the cat was not present in the photograph.”
The owners told police that they have not had any issues with any of their neighbors and have not seen any suspicious people in their neighborhood.
Neighbors said there have been five recent incidents of this nature within Savanna neighborhood.
Authorities confirmed that similar incidents had been reported in the area.
