Mariska Hargitay just ditched her long locks for something a bit breezier.
The “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” star debuted a brand new bob haircut in a series of photos posted by her hairstylist, Adir Abergel.
The fresh cut comes just in time for the actor’s Broadway debut in the solo show “Every Brilliant Thing” this month. Hargitay will be taking over for Daniel Radcliffe on May 26.
Abergel hinted that Hargitay’s upcoming stint on Broadway inspired the look in his post’s caption, writing, “NEW CUT FOR THE ONE AND ONLY @therealmariskahargitay BROADWAY DEBUT IN @brilliantbway ❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
Hargitay also commented on the post, writing, “Switching gears.”
Abergel highlighted his handiwork in the photo series, which showed Hargitay’s chin-length, wavy bob in all its glory.
The actor’s fans reacted to her new look in the comments section.
“It should be criminal to look this good!” the official Instagram page for “Law & Order” wrote.
One fan commented, “OMG!!! This is incredible on her 👏👏👏.”
Another wrote: “OBSESSED with the bob!!! It is so so good. How rude of Mariska to be able to pull off basically anything and look absolutely fabulous.”
Abergel just shared photos of Hargitay’s new hairstyle, but the actor gave fans a first look at the haircut on April 26 in a video promoting her Broadway debut. In the short clip, she danced at a photoshoot with confetti covering the floor.
In March, Playbill shared details about Hargitay’s upcoming role in “Every Brilliant Thing,” a solo play that first debuted at Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In the play, the protagonist “faces a distant father, a suicidal mother, and his own inexplicable deep sadness.”
“I read ‘Every Brilliant Thing’ and cried, rejoiced, laughed, cried some more, and loved it so much,” Hargitay said in a statement to Playbill. “I’m always drawn to themes of healing and renewal, especially when the journey is rendered in all its complexity. It feels like an extraordinary gift to make my Broadway debut, the fulfillment of a lifelong dream, with a play that affirms life so emphatically.”
Hargitay’s first performance will take place on May 26. The show will run through June 28.
“Law & Order” fans shouldn’t lose hope for a potential love story between Capt. Olivia Benson and Christopher Meloni’s Detective Elliot Stabler.
