The billionaire Mas family continues to buy and sell prime real estate in Miami.
Jose Mas, CEO of MasTec and a co-owner of the Major League Soccer franchise Inter Miami, paid $14.9 million for the 1-acre property at 9175 Arvida Parkway in the gated Gables Estates neighborhood of Coral Gables, The Real Deal has learned.
Property records show a company led by developer Humberto Ramirez sold the lot. Ramirez’s LLC paid $10.4 million for the property in 2023; the seller at the time was Leon Medical Centers CEO Benjamin Leon III.
Ramirez said he and his investor were happy with the offer made by Mas.
Ramirez co-listed the property with Eddy Rengifo of Avanti Way Realty. Roxanna Urban with One Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyer.
Mas tapped architect Cesar Molina of CMA Design Studio to design a new mansion, adding to the homes they are planning to sell in Gables Estates, Ramirez said.
Between December and January, Mas’ brother Jorge sold a waterfront lot in Miami’s Coconut Grove for over $100 million, and his former Coral Gables mansion for $32 million. He reportedly paid $75 million for a newly completed waterfront mansion, also in Gables Estates. Jorge Mas is chairman and co-founder of MasTec, and managing owner of Inter Miami CF, a team part-owned by David Beckham.
Jose Mas’ purchase is another marker of growing confidence in the luxury spec and renovated home market, as wealthy buyers from the West Coast and Northeast flock to South Florida.
In April, attorney Anthony Lopez and his fiancee, former “Real Housewives of Miami” star Dr. Nicole Martin, flipped their renovated Gables Estates mansion for $55 million, just eight months after they bought the home for $34 million. Records show their Lopez Strategic Manager LLC sold the mansion at 33 Arvida Parkway to Green Woods Trust, managed by Christine Hahn.
