Sergio Pino’s mistress sues to block his daughter from getting cut of $72M multifamily sale

The fight over chunks of late Miami developer Sergio Pino’s fortune now involves the profits from the $71.5 million sale of an apartment complex last year.

Pino’s longtime mistress Nancy Pastor last week sought to block Jacqueline Pino Wechsler, Pino’s daughter from his first marriage, from getting a cut of the $71.5 million deal. In a March 25 complaint filed in Miami-Dade Circuit Court, Century Gables View Multifamily is suing Century Marketplace and Philip Schecter, curator of Pino’s estate, over a profit sharing agreement tied to 850 Living, a 230-unit project at 811 Northwest 43rd Avenue.

Pino, who founded Century Homebuilders Group, died by suicide on July 16, 2024 at his Coral Gables mansion as FBI agents were serving a warrant to search for evidence as part of a criminal investigation into his plot to assassinate his estranged second wife Tatiana Pino. Management of Century Gables View was transferred to Pastor two months later, state corporate records show. Century Marketplace is managed by Wechsler.

In March of last year, Century Gables View sold 850 Living to Miami insurance mogul Ivan Herrera’s family office. Five months later, Schecter, Tatiana Pino, Wechsler and Pino’s three other adult children agreed to a settlement in which Wechsler would receive half of the sale proceeds from 850 Living, which have been held in escrow, court records show. Tatiana Pino would receive a quarter and Wechsler and her other siblings would evenly split the remaining quarter.

But in the most recent lawsuit, Century Gables View alleges a 2014 profit-sharing agreement submitted by Century Marketplace is not valid and not enforceable. It is seeking a court order to make a final determination.

“At this time, my client will let a court decide if the agreement is enforceable, and if it is, how the [profit-sharing] formula is calculated,” said Michael Schlesinger, the attorney for Century Gables View.

Attorneys for Wechsler and Tatiana Pino dismissed Pastor’s allegations.

Sergio Pino “did some things before he died that will not hold up in court, including the instruments he used to give Nancy Pastor the rights to manage and reap profits of certain assets Century owned,” said Glen Waldman, who represents Tatiana Pino. “We have serious concerns about the way [Pastor] is managing those assets.”

In September, Tatiana and the couple’s daughters, Alessandra and Carolina Pino, sued Pastor, another Century affiliate she manages, attorney Eugenio Duarte and Century’s former CFO Joseline Pereira to nullify two trusts and a 99-year lease that benefit Pastor, tied to a Doral mixed-use project developed by Pino’s firm.

In her recent complaint, Pastor alleges that Wechsler, through Century Marketplace, demanded 50 percent of the “net profits” from the sale of 850 Living shortly after Pino’s death.

Pastor alleges she cannot find any corroborating evidence of Wechsler’s 2014 profit-sharing agreement.

Pastor alleges she launched an internal investigation into the agreement and Wechsler’s claim via Century Marketplace. According to the complaint, Pastor could not locate tax returns, gift tax returns, capital gains filings or any legal disclosure reflecting a profit‑sharing liability tied to the property.

Pastor alleges Sergio Pino and Wechsler were estranged for many years, but that he tried to repair the relationship through significant gifts, including a Miami Beach condo conveyed for $100 and later sold by Wechsler for $450,000. Sergio Pino also allegedly paid for Wechsler’s pool in 2024 and agreed to donate $250,000 to her children’s school.

Pastor claims her efforts to verify or refute the profit‑share obligation have been hamstrung because most of Pino’s historical business and personal records are in the hands of Tatiana Pino, who now leads Century.
