Where to watch Taylor Swift's 'Opalite' music video — plus, when it's on YouTube

Taylor Swift selected one of Travis Kelce’s favorite songs from “The Life of a Showgirl” to be her next music video from the album.

On Feb. 6, the singer debuted a music video for “Opalite,” a song her fiancé previously gushed about during his “New Heights” podcast before Swift’s latest album was released.

“I think ‘Opalite’ might be my favorite, though, at least right now. Every time it comes on, I always catch myself,” he said in August.

The song is about how a relationship can be renewing, even after the difficulty of a past relationship. Coincidentally (or not), opal is Kelce’s birth month. She explained, during an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” why the song is about opalite not opal.

“Just like they can do man-made diamonds, they can do man-made opal,“ she said. “It was interesting imagery and a cool metaphor for: Life isn’t always going to give you what you want, you’re not always going to get your way, you’re going to get your heart broken, things are going to happen to you, chaos will ensue — but you have to pick your own happiness. You choose it. It doesn’t always choose you. It doesn’t always just show up knocking on your door. You have to sometimes make your own happiness.”

Swift previously dropped a music video for “The Fate of Ophelia” to coincide with the release of her album.

Eager to tune into Swift’s latest creative endeavor? Here’s everything you need to know about the “Opalite” music video.

How to watch the ‘Opalite’ music video

As of Feb. 6, Swifties can currently watch the “Opalite” music video in one of two ways: on Spotify or on Apple Music, both of which require subscriptions.

When is ‘Opalite’ on YouTube?

If you typically watch music videos on YouTube, you’ll have to wait a few days until “Opalite” is available.

“Opalite” lands on YouTube on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 8 a.m. ET, according to Variety.

Who is in the ‘Opalite’ music video?

Taylor Swift recruited the following all-star cast for the “Opalite” music video:

  • Domhnall Gleeson
  • Jodie Turner-Smith
  • Greta Lee
  • Cillian Murphy
  • Lewis Capaldi
  • Graham Norton

In an Instagram post, Swift revealed that she first came up with the concept while appearing on “The Graham Norton Show.”

“For those of you who aren’t familiar, it’s a UK late night show where Graham Norton (the insanely charismatic and lovable host) invites a random group of actors, entertainers, musicians, etc to be on his show and we all sit there and chat like it’s a dinner party. They even serve wine. Anyway. I remember thinking I got ridiculously lucky with the group I was paired with. Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, @JodieSmith, and @LewisCapaldi. All people whose work I’ve admired from afar,” she wrote.

During the broadcast, Gleeson made a joke about wanting to be in one of Swift’s music videos.

“He’s Irish! He was joking! Except that in that moment during the interview, I was instantly struck with an *idea*. And so a week later he received an email script I’d written for the Opalite video, where he was playing the starring role. I had this thought that it would be wild if all of our fellow guests on the Graham Norton show that night, including Graham himself, could be a part of it too. Like a school group project but for adults and it isn’t mandatory. To my delight, everyone from the show made the effort to time travel back to the 90’s with us and help with this video,” she wrote.

What happens in the ‘Opalite’ music video?

The video begins with an infomercial that advertises a spray called Opalite, which is described as “the revolutionary fix for your problems.”

“Just one spray and Opalite magically transforms your problems into your paradise. Using our state-of-the-art chemical potion, it works on friendships, couples, pets and coworkers,” the infomercial says.

The video then shows a brunette Swift, who is lonely and relying on a pet rock to keep her company. She puts a friendship bracelet on the rock, takes it out to bars and karaoke with her, and exercises with it.

Next, a young man played by Gleeson appears and can be seen hanging out with his cactus. He takes it to dinner and a movie and even plays pool with it.

When both Swift and Gleeson order Opalite, Swift sprays herself and Gleeson sprays his cactus. Swift suddenly appears in Gleeson’s house and he begins to take care of her. They start hanging out together and form a connection. While shopping at the mall, they come across a man selling Nope-Alite Reverse Opalite.

Gleeson rushes to push Swift out of the way when the salesman tries to spray a sample on her. The couple gets their happy ending.

Private texts between Blake Lively and Taylor Swift have been made public amid the actress’ ongoing legal dispute with her “It Ends with Us” director and co-star Justin Baldoni.
