Ex-Symantec CEO buys Fort Lauderdale mansion for $22M after price cut

Greg Clark, the former CEO of cybersecurity giant Symantec, dropped $21.5 million on a waterfront Fort Lauderdale mansion that languished on the market for years.

Clark bought the home at 2 Pelican Drive from Kathleen and Salvatore Longo Sr., records show. Tim Elmes with Compass had the listing, and Costanza Pitta with Florida Luxurious Properties brought the buyer.

Clark was the CEO of cybersecurity firm Symantec, now known as Gen Digital, from 2016 to 2019. He got his start in the tech industry founding the software company Dascom, which he sold to IBM in 1999 for an undisclosed price. He also served as CEO of Blue Coat from 2011 to 2016.

The Longos bought the mansion in Fort Lauderdale’s gated Seven Isles neighborhood for $11 million in 2017, according to property records. The house was built on 0.6 acres in 1997. It spans 8,800 square feet and has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, one half-bathroom and a pool, records show. The property also has 289 feet of waterfront and dockage for a megayacht, according to the listing.

The couple has listed the mansion since 2020, asking as much as $25 million, Zillow shows.

The sale price is a $4.5 million cut from their last asking price, but a $10.5 million gain on what they paid for it.

Fort Lauderdale’s luxury market has lagged behind neighboring markets in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties, but its prices are starting to catch up.

Retired racing driver Michael Andretti paid $27.4 million in August for a waterfront compound spanning 1.1 acres and 665 feet of water frontage. Financier Donald Sussman sold a waterfront estate for $70 million in 2024, setting a price record for Broward County and blowing past previous record sales in the area.

More recently, Florida Panthers forward Sam Reinhart bought a house from retired soccer star Sergio Busquets in nearby Sea Ranch Lakes for $9 million.
