Taking your sweet thang to McDonald’s this Valentine’s Day might not be the faux pas it once was.
On Feb. 2, the Golden Arches announced it is giving its Chicken McNuggets a fancy-pants makeover, releasing McNugget Caviar Kits featuring Baerii Sturgeon caviar just ahead of Valentine’s Day. The trendy take on surf and turf will be exclusively available online on Feb. 10.
“After all, nothing says ‘ILY’ quite like a limited drop from McDonald’s just in time for your Valentine’s Day plans,” McDonald’s said in a press release.
And the cost? It’s free.
The chain teamed up with Paramount Caviar to offer the kits gratis. They include a 1-ounce tin of McNugget Caviar, crème fraîche, a mother-of-pearl caviar spoon, and finally, a $25 McDonald’s gift card.
The kits drop at 11 a.m. ET on Tuesday, Feb. 10, exclusively at McNuggetCaviar.com (not in restaurants!) — and supplies are limited (we’re not sure yet how limited), so the chain warns to “act fast.”
The combo of chicken nuggets and caviar has been a highbrow-lowbrow pairing folks on social media have indulged in for some time now. Rihanna, for example, showed off her favorite “soccer mom snack” — caviar-topped nuggets — on Instagram in December 2024.
A Korean fried chicken restaurant that opened in January 2024 in New York City, COQODAQ, also popularized the combo with its Golden Nugget: a single nugget with a heap of caviar on top.
These days, it’s a popular appetizer to serve on New Year’s Eve, but McDonald’s is trying to make it a Valentine’s Day thing. It’s up to you whether it’s worthy of your boo.
