Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer’s marriage has reached the end of the line.
The “Trainwreck” star and the chef, who are parents to 6-year-old son Gene, broke up seven years after their wedding.
“Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage,” Schumer shared in an Instagram statement Dec. 12. “We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son.”
Noting that the split was “amicable” and there’s “love and respect” all around, the 44-year-old went on to shut down speculation of what went wrong.
“Not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag s basket,” she quipped, “and not because he’s a hot James beard award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail.”
Schumer added, “Family forever.”
She shared the same sentiment earlier in December, when she seemingly confirmed her relationship with Fischer, 45, was on the rocks. At the time, she said “whatever ends up happening” had “nothing to do” with her recent weight loss or his autism diagnosis.

“Fingers crossed we make it through he’s the best,” the comedian wrote in a since-deleted Dec. 1 Instagram post, adding that the reason she was pictured without her wedding band was because she “never” wears jewelry.
In the same post, Schumer clarified that the reason behind her 50-pound weight loss was “not to look hot,” but to combat Cushing Syndrome, a hormonal disorder she was diagnosed with in 2024.
“I did it to survive,” she explained. “I had a disease that makes your face extremely puffy and can kill you.”
Cushing syndrome is caused by elevated levels of cortisol in the body, per National Library of Medicine. According to Schumer, she was diagnosed with the disorder after taking steroids, which can be used to treat other health issues such as endometriosis.
And the “I Feel Pretty” actress has been open about her continuing battle with endometriosis, an often-painful autoimmune disease that can cause infertility. In fact, Schumer underwent IVF in 2020 in a bid to have a second baby, before ultimately having her uterus and appendix removed the following year to treat endometriosis.
“We’re gonna have just one child and we’re just enjoying our little family,” Schumer shared in a 2022 episode of the “Dear Chelsea” podcast, explaining how she and Fischer struggled to conceive a second child. “We tried, but we’re just gonna have the one perfect little adorable angel.”
