Are you ready, kids? Burger King launches SpongeBob menu

This December, a certain giggly sponge has abandoned his post at the Krusty Krab for a job on dry land — at Burger King.

On Dec. 1, BK released its new, limited-time menu in honor of “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants,” which hits U.S. theaters on Dec. 19. It features four “sea-sonal” creations inspired by all your favorite “SpongeBob” characters:

  • SpongeBob’s Krabby Whopper ($6.99): A quarter-pound flame-grilled beef patty on a yellow square bun with American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, mayo and ketchup.
  • Mr. Krabs’ Cheesy Bacon Tots ($1.99): Coin-shaped potato tots filled with cheese and bacon, served in a treasure chest carton.
  • Patrick’s Star-berry Shortcake Pie ($2.99): Strawberry shortcake pie slice with layers of strawberry and vanilla-flavored cream, a cookie crumb crust, shortcake cookie crumbles and pink star-shaped sprinkles.
  • Pirate’s Frozen Pineapple Float ($2.59): A frozen pineapple-flavored beverage topped with tropical-flavored cold foam.
  • Bikini Bottom Bundle ($14.99): Customers can grab all the new items, which come in a Pineapple-shaped Under the Sea Box, with a medium float and 8-piece Cheesy Bacon Tots.
  • King Jr. Meal: The chain is also offering a special-edition King Jr. Meal in a Pineapple shaped Under the Sea Box featuring one of six collectible SpongeBob toys and a limited-edition SpongeBob crown.

Royal Perks members who order items from the SpongeBob menu through the BK App can get access to exclusive meals. And Miami-based fans can experience an exclusive BK x SpongeBob pop-up experience on Saturday, Dec. 6 and Sunday, Dec. 7 at 701 NW 37th Ave in Miami, Florida.

Of course, Burger King is not the first burger chain to team up with the porous cartoon character we all know and love.

In 2024, Wendy’s and Paramount released the Krabby Patty Kollab. The limited-time menu included a Krabby Patty Kollab Burger and tropical-flavored Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty in celebration of the 25th anniversary of “SpongeBob SquarePants.”

And McDonald’s has featured the four-sided figure in its restaurants a couple times over the years. To coincide with the 2012 Summer Olympics, the chain released 16 sports-related, SpongeBob-themed toys in its Happy Meals. And in 2021, it released 10 SpongeBob Happy Meal toys.
