Nicole Kidman is not following a script when it comes to her real life.

After the “Babygirl” star filed for divorce from Keith Urban, she told Ariana Grande in a conversation for Interview, which took place Oct. 19, that she was “hanging in there.”

Elsewhere in the interview, which was published Nov. 24, Kidman — who shares daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14 with Urban — shared that she was surrounded by a great support system this summer as she filmed “Practical Magic 2” amid the initial months of her separation. (On Sept. 29, E! News had confirmed that she and the “Somebody Like You” singer had been living apart “since the beginning of summer.”)

“I felt protected and loved,” Kidman added of being on set with costars Sandra Bullock, Joey King and Maisie Williams. “It was just very, very safe.”

Since her separation from her husband of over 19 years, Kidman has kept a low profile, save for a few public appearances including attending a Chanel fashion show alongside her daughters during Paris Fashion Week Oct. 7.

Amid the former couple’s separation, E! News learned that “The Killing of the Sacred Deer” star initially attempted to salvage her marriage, before ultimately filing for divorce.

The 58-year-old has also had full custody of the former couple’s teenagers since their separation, as they resided in their Nashville residence while Urban, also 58, maintained a separate living situation in the same city. In Kidman’s Sept. 30 divorce filing, she and Urban mutually signed off on a proposed custody agreement that has their daughters staying with Nicole for 306 days of the year as the “primary residential parent,” while they will spend 59 days with their dad.

For Urban’s part, he had stirred up dating rumors with guitarist Maggie Baugh after changing the lyrics to his song “The Fighter,” to give her a shoutout in September.

However, Baugh’s friend Alexandra Kay subsequently confirmed in an appearance on “Taste of Country Nights” Oct. 23 that a budding romance between Urban and her pal was “absolutely not true.”

Urban also slammed his audience’s speculation when it came to his song choices, telling a crowd during an Oct. 17 concert, “Stop reading s— into it.”

At the 2025 TIME Women Of The Year Gala, Nicole Kidman spoke to Access Hollywood’s Zuri Hall about being honored amongst the magazine’s list. She also spoke about the success of “Babygirl” and her ongoing commitment to working with female directors. Plus, Nicole spoke about meeting Ariana Grande and shared that she “would love to” work with her one day.
