Watch the 'Hamilton' cast take to the New York City streets to perform 'My Shot'

“Hamilton” is continuing to celebrate its 10th anniversary with a new video for the song “My Shot,” premiering Nov. 24 exclusively on TODAY.

In the video, the Broadway musical’s cast honors its New York City roots by donning their costumes and hitting the streets to perform the song for passersby.

Trey Curtis, who currently stars as Alexander Hamilton, raps the song’s swaggering lyrics. Brazen young Hamilton, who describes himself as “young, scrappy and hungry” just like the United States, vows to make his mark on the new nation.

“Hamilton,” based on Ron Chernow’s 2004 biography “Alexander Hamilton,” was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also originated the role of Hamilton, one of the Founding Fathers of the U.S.

The musical chronicles the life of the confident young Hamilton, examining his role in the American Revolution and later as the secretary of the treasury, including his doomed feud with U.S. Vice President Aaron Burr.

Directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, “Hamilton” opened Aug. 6, 2015, at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.

“Hamilton,” which has won 11 Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, has been celebrating its 10th birthday this year. The show’s original Broadway cast reunited in June for a special medley of songs at the Tonys. On Aug. 6, the current cast performed the show for members of the original production and celebrities at an invite-only anniversary event.

A 2016 performance of “Hamilton” that was filmed for a theatrical release made its debut Sept. 5 at the Delacorte Theater with cast members in attendance. (The movie previously dropped on Disney+ in 2020.)

Also this year, Leslie Odom Jr., who won a Tony for playing Aaron Burr in “Hamilton,” returned to the Richard Rodgers Stage to reprise his role.

“I can’t believe people are still talking about it,” Miranda said of the success of “Hamilton” during a September 2025 interview with NBC’s Morgan Radford.

“It’s really thrilling,” he added.
