We know the Grinch has dinner with himself at 6:30 (he “can’t cancel that again!”), but now we know what he’ll be having.
McDonald’s is putting a mischievous spin on the holiday season by introducing its new Grinch Meal featuring Dr. Seuss’s holiday-hating character.
A collaboration between the fast food chain and Dr. Seuss Enterprises, the meal allows Mount Crumpit’s resident grump to introduce his Dill Pickle “Grinch Salt” McShaker Fries, the company announced in a press release.
The special fries, available for the first time in the U.S., bring back the McShaker bag, a long-lost McDonald’s menu item.
Customers use the McShaker bag to sprinkle dill pickle seasoning all over their fries. The fries are paired with a choice of a Big Mac or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets and a medium drink.
The normally not-nice Grinch is also sneaking a surprise gift into every meal: a pair of “spirited socks” that feature a hand-scribbled message from the Grinch telling everyone how he feels about holiday season.
The socks come in “four unhinged colors” and can be used as an makeshift Christmas stocking, as the Grinch himself can attest.
“THiS iS MY MEAL AND i DiDN’T PARTNER WiTH McDONALD’S OUT OF THE GOODNESS OF MY HEART,” the Grinch said in McDonald’s release. “i SAW AN OPPORTUNiTY TO BRiNG MiSCHiEF TO YOUR BELOVED ‘RESTAURANT’ WiTH MY DELiCiOUS CHAOS FOR THE HOLiDAYS AND i TOOK iT. SO GO AHEAD, GRAB MY MEAL STARTING DEC. 2 — YOU’RE WELCOME FOR MAKiNG YOUR HOLiDAYS iNFiNiTELY MORE iNTERESTiNG.”
McDonald’s previously offered a McShaker bag and a choice of seasonings with Shake Shake Fries, which were taken off U.S. menus sometime in the ‘90s.
“McShaker Fries have been a favorite on international menus for years, such as Sour Cream & Black Pepper McShaker Fries in Poland or Masala McShaker Fries in Canada,” a McDonald’s representative tells TODAY.com. “This is the first time in recent years that they will be available nationally in the U.S. market. “
The Grinch Meal will be available for a limited time beginning Tuesday, Dec. 2 at participating restaurants, while supplies last.
The new meal is in line with the trendy zeal for all things pickled-flavored in the fast-food world, including Popeye’s pickle glaze sandwich and fried pickles, available for a limited time earlier this year, and Jimmy John’s new Picklewich, which was introduced in 2024 and uses a dill pickle in place of bread.
