Jennifer Lawrence says costar Robert Pattinson pulled food out of her garbage — and ate it

Jennifer Lawrence may hope Robert Pattinson has no hard feelings about her dinner party story.

“The Hunger Games” actress, who is costarring alongside the “Twilight” actor in the upcoming film, “Die My Love,” detailed a night of post-shoot bonding with her colleague where she learned just how low-key he is. Indeed, as she recalled of the December 2024 encounter, she had been hosting a girls night when he came over for a spontaneous evening after finishing some work nearby. And because she and her friends had already finished up eating for the night, she had to be resourceful.

“He comes in, and I give him a hug and he’s like, ‘You have any food? I’m so hungry.’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah. Come in. Come in,'” Lawrence explained on the Oct. 17 episode of The Graham Norton Show. “And then he goes to the bathroom, and I do have food, but it’s in the trash. So, while he was in the bathroom, I was pulling food out of my garbage can.”

Sharing the look of shock her girlfriends gave her, she noted she gave them an “it’s fine” gesture and Pattinson came out of the bathroom and began to eat what she had pulled together.

“We’re all just kind of like watching him eat this trash,” she continued. “Then when he was finished, he was like, ‘I’m still hungry.'”

In that moment, she learned he never had concern about eating the trash food at all. After all, when she told him, “‘Well, there is, but it’s in the garbage,'” he simply responded, “I don’t mind.”

As to what happened next? “He just pulled it out of the trash,” Lawrence marveled, “and kept eating it.”

Despite Pattinson, 39, being four years older than Lawrence 35, the “Silver Linings Playbook” star shared that as she’s gotten to know him, she’s learned he’s really a kid at heart — which may explain his unbothered attitude when it comes to eating out of the trash.

“I wouldn’t trust that he put a coat on or that he’s going to eat on time,” she joked of feeling “maternal” toward him.

However, she emphasized he’s an adult where it matters, adding, “He’s a great father. He’s a professional. He shows up on time.”

Indeed, fatherhood is a new venture for the former teen vampire, as he welcomed his 19-month-old daughter with fiancée Suki Waterhouse last year. And Pattinson shared that becoming a dad has changed his life not just personally, but professionally.

“In the most unexpected ways, having a baby gives you the biggest trove of energy and inspiration afterward,” he told Harper’s Bazaar in May. “Ever since [my daughter] was born, it’s reinvigorated the way I approach work.”
