Rock legend Gene Simmons is recovering at home after he was involved in a crash Tuesday afternoon on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.
The crash was reported just before 1 p.m. in the 25000 block of Pacific Coast Highway. The KISS bassist and vocalist’s Lincoln Navigator crashed into a parked car, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department told NBC Los Angeles Investigates.
A witness called 911 and deputies and firefighters responded to the scene.
Simmons, 76, was speaking with first responders, authorities said. He told deputies he passed out or fainted, then hit the parked car, the sheriff’s department said.
He was hospitalized to be checked out.
Wife Shannon Tweed told NBC4 Investigates that Simmons is recovering at home. She said doctors recently changed his medications and that he needs to drink more water — something of which he’s not a fan.
She said his SUV careened across several lanes of traffic in the crash and that he passed out.
In a voicemail message to NBC Los Angeles Investigates, Simmons said he is doing fine.
