Pooh Shiesty is a free man.

The “Back in Blood” rapper (real name Lontrell D. Williams) was released from federal prison after serving three years of his five year and three month sentence, his lawyer Bradford Cohen confirmed.

“@poohshiesty is ready,” the attorney shared on Instagram Oct. 7. “Wait until you see hus [sic] comeback. He will be bigger than ever. I am always glad to see a client start the climb back up to elite status. Always kept it 100.”

Cohen added, “The government wanted 10…he got 3. I always think there is a plan for people and his story isnt over its just starting.”

The attorney also told Gray News Oct. 7 that the musician was released early on Oct. 6 after a combination of time served and good behavior. And Cohen was clearly elated that his client had been let out early.

The 25-year-old had “pled guilty to conspiring to possess firearms in furtherance of crimes of violence and drug trafficking” in January 2022, according to a press release from the Southern District of Florida Department of Justice at the time ,and took a plea deal to reduce his sentence.

As part of the deal, Pooh Shiesty “admitted to participating in the conspiracy” on three occasions which were outlined in the press release, the first of which was on July 7, 2020, when the “Switch it Up” artist was inside a car in Memphis and someone else in the vehicle with him “discharged a firearm at a gas station.”

The second occasion was just a few months later on Oct. 9, in Bay Harbor Islands, Fla., when Pooh Shiesty and his “co-conspirators” arrived to “acquire marijuana, codeine, and sneakers.” However, during the meetup a member of his group pulled out a weapon and assaulted two victims.

The third took place on May 20, 2021, when, per the release, Pooh Shiesty “assaulted a victim with a firearm at a Miami strip club.”

The following year, in April 2022, Pooh Shiesty was sentenced to 63 months in prison as well as three years of supervised release, according to documents filed in the Southern District of Florida and obtained by USA TODAY.

At the time of his sentence, Cohen noted that while “nobody’s happy to go to prison,” he and Pooh Shiesty were pleased with the ruling.

“He was happy the judge listened to our argument, and the judge received the argument well,” Cohen had told Rolling Stone. “He was satisfied with the outcome. We’re happy with the decision of the court.”
