NBC Sports has found its basketball equivalent to Carrie Underwood.
The company announced Monday that Lenny Kravitz will perform the introduction anthem music for Sunday Night Basketball, which will debut in February.
Kravitz, a four-time Grammy-winner, will have a unique show open for each week, similar to Underwood’s role on Sunday Night Football.
The multi-platinum, GRAMMY Award-winning singer stars in the musical show opening for NBC’s Sunday Night Football for the 13th consecutive NFL season.
“I have been a fan of basketball and the NBA since I was a kid,” Kravitz said in a press release. “I am happy to be invited to take part with NBC Sports and the NBA, and I celebrate their support of sports, music, and culture. I am looking forward to this special moment.”
The rock star has 12 studio albums with over 50 million copies sold worldwide, with hits like “Fly Away” and “American Woman” among his Grammy-winning songs.
Sunday Night Basketball will debut on Feb. 1, 2026, and continue for the remainder of the NBA regular season — with the exception of Feb. 8 and Feb. 15 due to Super Bowl LX, the Milan Cortina Olympics and NBA All-Star Game — all airing on NBC and Peacock.
The opening week of SNB will be a doubleheader, featuring the Los Angeles Lakers at the New York Knicks and the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Denver Nuggets.
Here’s the rest of the SNB schedule for the 2025-26 season:
- Feb. 22: Boston Celtics at Los Angeles Lakers
- March 1: Oklahoma City Thunder at Dallas Mavericks
- March 8: Houston Rockets at San Antonio Spurs
