Taylor Swift is giving a toast to her real friends.
Unfortunately, or not for her, though, Swifties really care about the “he said, she said,” as theories are already running rampant when it comes to her “The Life of a Showgirl” song “Cancelled!”
Indeed, the tenth track on Swift’s new album shares that she likes “her friends cancelled,” with the chorus proclaiming, “I like ‘em cloaked in Gucci and in scandal / Like my whiskey sour / And poison thorny flowers / Welcome to my underworld / Where it gets quite dark / At least you know exactly who your friends are.”
And while the “Opalite” singer is no stranger to facing public scrutiny herself, fans are already theorizing that Blake Lively and Brittany Mahomes, each of whom have been at the center of scandals or high-profile feuds, influenced the banger.
“Taylor Swift saying f–k everyone who said she had to drop Blake Lively,” one fan posited in an X post, “and ‘cancelled’ basically being a defender song.”
Access Hollywood is breaking down their relationship timeline, from Travis Klece shooting his shot on his “New Heights” podcast to Taylor Swift’s first Kansas City Chiefs game and the whirlwind romance that followed.

Meanwhile, another clapped back at the pre-album drop theories that “Ruin the Friendship”—a song actually about losing touch with a high school friend who later died—was about an alleged fallout between Swift and the “Gossip Girl” alum.
“Love that all the pick-mes tried to convince everyone ‘ruin the friendship’ was about Blake Lively (which is a sweet song about a boy),” the fan wrote in an X post. “But instead Taylor wrote ‘Yeah it’s a good thing I like my friends cancelled, I salute you if you’re too much to handle’ about Blake.”
Indeed, others emphasized that Swift’s lyrics in the song may, indeed, be referencing Lively and her legal battle with “It Ends With Us” director and costar Justin Baldoni.
“Girl was the face of Gucci,” another fan explained in a post, referring to Lively’s 2014 partnership with the designer brand as well as her Betty Buzz liquor, adding, “did the flower movie and had her own brand of sours. Might as well name drop come on now.”
Another hypothesized it could be about Swift’s fellow Kansas City Chiefs WAG Brittany, who made waves after she publicly supported Donald Trump, noting, “my hot take is that ‘cancelled’ is about brittany mahomes and not blake.”
Of course, Swift has plenty of pals the track could be referencing, as one fan pointed out.
“What does it say that the first person that came to mind when I heard ‘cancelled’ wasn’t Brittany mahomes or Blake lively,” another fan added in a post, “but Lena Dunham.”
