Sometimes stars really are just like us.

After all, Ed Sheeran admitted he heard about pal Taylor Swift and her fiancé Travis Kelce’s engagement in the same way as everybody else. As he said during a Sept. 24 appearance on SiriusXM’s “Small Stage” series, he heard the news through “Instagram.”

Proving Swift’s keeping her cards close to the vest for now, when it comes to whether he’s heard “The Life of a Showgirl” — set to release Oct. 3 — or received his save the date for her wedding, Sheeran succinctly shook off his involvement in either, simply adding, “No.”

Sheeran’s lack of knowledge of Swift’s inner life may come as a surprise for fans of the “Sweeran” friendship (a moniker Sheeran and Swift have previously used).

After all, Swift played a major role in Sheeran’s own happily ever after with Cherry Seaborn, with whom the “Thinking Out Loud” singer shares daughters Lyra, 5, and Jupiter, 3.

Travis Kelce says he and Taylor Swift are already in the swing of planning their big day.

“Our anniversary is her 4th of July party,” Sheeran admitted to People back in 2017. “I was texting [Seaborn], and she was like, ‘I’m in Rhode Island at a 4th of July party,’ and I was like, ‘So am I.’ I kinda said to Taylor, ‘Can I invite one of my old schoolmates?’ The rest is history.”

Indeed, Sheeran — who first met his future wife in primary school — even put a nod to the special moment in Swift’s Reputation song “End Game” in which he sings, “After the storm, something was born on the 4th of July.”

A year after their fateful rekindling, Swift celebrated the happy couple, who eventually got married in 2019, at the same event.

“Remember the sign that I made for your first anniversary?” Swift joked to her collaborator in a behind-the-scenes clip for the “End Game” music video in 2017. “Happy Ed-iver-Cherry.”

And while Swift emphasized she thought Cherry was the “coolest” in the same video, Ed also admitted it wasn’t the first time she played wingwoman for him.

“When I first met Taylor I was in a relationship and she was in a relationship and we just formed a friendship,” Sheeran recalled during a 2017 appearance on Howard Stern’s radio show, joking that Taylor “encouraged” him to date her other friends.

“She was the world’s best wingman,” he joked. “I’d like to say that I help wingman too, but probably not as well.”

Luckily for Taylor, her guy on the Chiefs did the heavy lifting when it came to becoming king of her heart.
