Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba and Ariana Grande’s Glinda will meet again and face off in the forthcoming sequel, “Wicked: For Good,” and fans are getting a preview of their reunion in the final trailer for the movie.
After teasing the release on social media, the final trailer for “Wicked: For Good” aired exclusively on TODAY Sept. 24.
In the clip, a celebration is taking place when Elphaba is seen flying in the air and carving out the words, “Our wizard lies,” in the clouds, as Glinda watches from below. Also, in a never-before-seen moment, Elphaba is seen confronting her old schoolmate and telling her she has “no real power.”
Fans also get a preview of Dorothy’s arrival in Oz. In one scene, she’s seen standing in front of the Wizard with the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow as the Wizard asks them to get Elphaba’s broom for him so that he has proof she’s dead.
The trailer is filled with moments of dispute — but also, it shows glimmers of friendship between Elphaba and Glinda.
“Think of what we could do together,” Glinda tearfully tells Elphaba, who smiles back, at the end of the trailer.
The new trailer also features a snippet of Erivo singing “No Good Deed,” and a preview of her and Grande belting along to “For Good.”
The new trailer for “Wicked: For Good” continues to build suspense for the upcoming film, which hits theaters on Nov. 21.
Online, fans said they can’t wait for the new movie to come out.
“SO READY FOR THIS,” one person commented on YouTube.
Another said, “I’m literally crying.
A third added, “I can’t stop watching this.”
Part two of the adaptation, based on the popular Broadway musical, follows the success of 2024’s “Wicked.” By the end of its theatrical run, “Wicked” brought in more than $700 million worldwide, per Deadline.
The fantasy flick landed Erivo an Academy Award nomination earlier this year for best actress in a leading role, and Grande a nomination for best supporting actress.
“Wicked” won two Oscars at the 97th Academy Awards for best achievement in production design for Nathan Crowley and Lee Sandales and best achievement in costume design for Paul Tazewell.
Even the most ardent fans of the original stage production will enjoy some surprises in the second “Wicked” film.
Composer Stephen Schwartz previously revealed to TODAY.com that “Wicked: For Good” will include two new songs penned for the movie. Those songs are titled “No Place Like Home” and “The Girl in the Bubble,” the official Instagram account for “Wicked” shared. The soundtrack will also be released on Nov. 21.
