Peacock drops first trailer for 'The Paper,' long-awaited 'The Office' spinoff

You’ve heard of “The Office,” but now it’s time for “The Paper.”

The spinoff of the iconic NBC show is coming to Peacock in September, and now we have the first trailer of the new mockumentary sitcom.

The two-minute clip shared Thursday showed actors Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore and the returning Oscar Nuñez, among others.

Here’s the official trailer:

The trailer gives away a few hints about the show and the new workplace dynamic.

Gleeson will star as Ned Samson in the managerial role, just as Steve Carell did as Michael Scott. He arrives in Ohio as the new editor-in-chief for The Toledo Truth-Teller. The documentary crew, which is the same as the one that followed the fictional paper company Dunder Mifflin in “The Office,” will shoot the new subjects.

Impacciatore, known for her role as the manager in season two of “The White Lotus,” will play a writer on Gleeson’s staff.

Nuñez is reprising his role as Oscar Martinez, but his cameo in the trailer showed that he isn’t too thrilled about seeing the documentary crew again. He spotted the cameras and instantly looked concerned, saying “Not again. I’m not agreeing to any of this.” He then tells them he’ll make his footage “unusable” and starts to curse.

“The Paper” stems from “The Office” creator Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, with other stars including Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman and Ramona Young. Guest stars include Eric Rahill, Tracy Letts, Molly Ephraim, Mo Welch, Allan Havey, Duane Shepard Sr., Nate Jackson and Nancy Lenehan.

Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant of the original British “Office” show are among the executive producers.

“The Paper” debuts exclusively on Peacock on Thursday, Sept. 4, with four episodes. Two new episodes will drop every Thursday until Sept. 25, for 10 total episodes in the first season.
