Travis Kelce is the fella over there with the hella new hair.
Although the Kansas City Chiefs tight end had been growing out his hair over the last year, sporting a grown-out bowl cut look that contrasted with the buzz cut he’d previously been rocking for years, he has officially gone back to his roots.
Indeed, the 35-year-old’s football team confirmed he has buzzed his hair again ahead of the 2025 NFL season, debuting the new look in a July 27 Instagram post alongside the caption, “Fresh cut Trav.”
The shorter locks immediately sparked divisive reactions on social media, especially among fans of Taylor Swift, who has been dating the football star for two years.
Meanwhile, another account shared an in memoriam-style tribute set to Mariah Carey’s “Bye Bye” for Travis’ tresses, sharing a photo of the football player’s former flow, along with the caption, “May 2024-July 2025.”

However, other fans were thrilled to see Kelce debut a fresh fade.
“We about to win it all!” Another Chiefs fan wrote on X. “2022 Kelce is back.”
And, naturally, many fans expressed excitement to see the return of Kelce’s training camp tradition, with one writing, “Next step: El Travedor [sic].”
Indeed, Kelce has previously explained that he pays an annual homage to Chiefs coach Andy Reid by sporting a mustache for the first few weeks of the NFL season.
“It’s all having fun at camp, man,” Kelce explained on an episode of New Heights in 2023. “Shout out to Andy Reid, baby: It’s ‘stache time, baby. The power of the ‘stache.”
As for why Kelce changed up his look in the first place? His teammate Patrick Mahomes previously shared the short-lived length was a suggestion from none other than Swift herself.
The Chiefs quarterback told SiriusXM NFL Radio last August, “I’ve been trying to get him to grow his hair out and all of a sudden Taylor gets him to do it.”
It comes as no surprise that Swift could spark such a chain reaction of counter moves in Kelce’s life.
