Private equity boss David Cohen sold his condo at Four Seasons Residences at the Surf Club for $17.8 million, marking the highest price per square foot sale in Surfside this year.
Records show Cohen sold unit N-719 at 9111 Collins Avenue for $5,265 per square foot to Michigan Miami Land Trust, with Melissa Cramer-Melnick as trustee. The true buyer is unknown.
Ruthie and Ethan Assouline with Douglas Elliman’s Assouline Team and Zach Vichinsky with Bespoke Real Estate had the listing. Amorette Robertson with Continuum Realty brought the buyer.
Cohen is co-president, co-CEO and co-CIO of Off Road Capital Partners, a New York City-based private equity firm. He previously co-founded Iridian Asset Management, according to his firm’s website.
Records show he bought a 2.8-acre oceanfront estate in Hobe Sound for $18.9 million in September. The nearly 12,700-square-foot mansion has 10 bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, one half-bathroom and a pool. Two months later, he and his wife, Jodee Seiders, sold a mansion at Jupiter’s Bears Club for $17.7 million.
Cohen bought the Surf Club Four Seasons condo for $7 million in 2018, property records show. It spans 3,370 square feet, with three bedrooms and five bathrooms, records and the listing show. Cohen listed the unit for $21.8 million in December, according to Zillow.
Fort Partners, led by Nadim Ashi, completed the oceanfront Surf Club Four Seasons complex in 2017. It includes two 12-story condo buildings, a 72-key hotel, a restaurant by Thomas Keller, four swimming pools and a private club. The design team included Pritzker Prize-winner Richard Meier and Miami architect Kobi Karp.
Since completion, Surf Club Four Seasons has attracted a number of high-profile residents. In June, Lynda Carter, best known for portraying Wonder Woman, sold her condo for $19.5 million. In March, hedge funder Patrick McMahon sold his unit for $24.9 million to an entity linked to WorldQuant founder Igor Tulchinsky. Last year, an entity linked to Apple sold an oceanfront penthouse for $44 million, which remains the most expensive unit ever sold in the complex.
