Kelly Clarkson’s preparation for a pair of Fourth of July shows that were set to kick off her new residency, at The Colosseum inside of Caesars Palace took a toll on her voice.
The American Idol alum wrote in a statement shared in a statement on July 4 that her Las Vegas residency, “Studio Sessions,” would begin later than originally expected.
“We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans,” Kelly wrote in a statement shared in a statement on July 4. “I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars.”
The singer-talk show host abruptly canceled the first two dates — Friday, July 4, the residency-opening bash and Saturday night’s concert slated for July 5 initially. Dates have not been given on when those shows would be rescheduled.

“The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice,” Clarkson’s statement continued. “I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve. The show is truly incredible.”
Clarkson did indicate at the conclusion of her statement that the residency is still scheduled to begin at Caesar’s — opening night has just been pushed to next weekend.
During a conversation about what scares “M3GAN 2.0” star Allison Williams IRL, Jimmy Fallon brings a little chaos to the show by bursting through the stage doors — in a wig.
“The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong. I can’t wait to be back next weekend and show y’all what we’ve been working on.”
