“Stranger Things” fans will surely be ugly crying when the Netflix fantasy series’ fifth and final season debuts later this year, according to the show’s cast.
“It’s beyond anything we’ve done yet,” Noah Schnapp — who portrays Will Byers — exclusively told E! News at Netflix’s Tudum live event in Los Angeles last month. “It’s so big and so intimate and so heartfelt and probably the most emotional work we’ve done.”
He added, “Prepare for tears.”
But it won’t just be emotional for fans to say goodbye. The stars were understandably filled with tears on the last day of filming.
“The first day on set felt like any other thing, but the last day on set was really the craziest,” the 20-year-old recalled. “I’ll never forget that day. It was very sad and perfect.”
As for which cast member cried the most during their on-set farewells?
“Probably me,” Schnapp quipped. “I’m just so sensitive. I mean, everyone was crying. We all love each other, so it’s hard to part ways.”

However, Schnapp promised viewers will be “really satisfied” with how the supernatural story wraps up.
“I was really nervous to see how it would end up,” he reflected, “and I’m really happy with it.”
Costar Caleb McLaughlin — who plays Lucas Sinclair — echoed Schnapp’s sentiments on the Netflix red carpet.
“I grew up on the show, I traveled the world with these guys,” the 23-year-old shared. “I’m just really humbled and grateful for the experience.”
Plus, getting to work with series creators Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer over the past nine years was a dream come to true for McLaughlin.
“I’ve changed, I grew, I’ve been molded, I’ve been influenced,” he noted. “Stranger Things has set the bar high for me and my creative look on a lot of things. And just being around the cast, how talented and how generous they are. As creators, the Duffers have poured so much into us.”
As for his thoughts on the series’ ending?
“A lot of information, love, laughter, cries — all the emotions,” McLaughlin teased. “Just the quality and love and passion we have put in the last 10 years together. We grew up on the show. We all started in this one place in our lives. This is the end of a chapter, but it’s a beautiful chapter.”
“Stranger Things” season five, volume one, consisting of four episodes, will premiere Nov. 26 — the day before Thanksgiving.
