Miami police are investigating two separate shootings Monday afternoon, including one on Interstate 95, that left a teenage boy and a 20-year-old man wounded and in the hospital.

Investigators are working to determine if the incidents are connected.

Teen shot near Northwest 56th Street

Police responded to reports of a shooting near Northwest 2nd Avenue and 56th Street around 2 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where police say he was conscious and alert.

At the scene, CBS News Miami observed at least 23 evidence markers on the ground and crime scene investigators debriefing as they continued to gather information.

Gunfire on I-95 blocks traffic, second victim hospitalized

Shortly after the first shooting, a car riddled with bullets was discovered on Interstate 95 near the Northwest 79th Street exit. Chopper footage showed one lane blocked as traffic moved around the scene.

A second victim — a 20-year-old man — later arrived at Jackson Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to the foot. Police said he was transported by a family member. Crime scene tape surrounded the hospital’s emergency entrance following his arrival.

Victims in stable condition, investigation ongoing

Both the 16-year-old and the 20-year-old are reported to be in stable condition.

Police have not confirmed whether the two shootings are related but said they are continuing to gather evidence and conduct interviews.

No arrests have been announced.
