Movers & Shakers: Don Peebles brings his kids into the C-suite



Don Peebles, the chairman and CEO of Miami Beach-based Peebles Corporation, is beginning his succession planning. 

The developer tapped his son, Donahue Peebles III, as chief operating officer of the firm, and his daughter, Chloe Peebles, as chief of staff, according to a news release. 

Donahue Peebles III has worked at his dad’s firm as an executive vice president since graduating from Columbia University in 2016. In his new role, he will oversee construction, asset management and financing for Peebles’ pipeline, according to the release. 

Chloe Peebles left her role as a brand development consultant with Texas-based Thryve Wealth Management to join the family business, according to LinkedIn. As chief of staff, she will focus on optimizing workflows and high-level project management, the release shows. 

Here are other firms that made key leadership appointments across the tri-county region.

Portman, a real estate development and management firm based in Atlanta, brought in Boca Raton-based Ian Slavin as vice president of residential development, according to a news release. Slavin will oversee all aspects of Portman’s multifamily developments in Florida, including the firm’s growth strategy across the state. Portman is led by Ambrish Baisiwala and John Portman IV. It is planning an eight-story, 397-unit mixed-use apartment project in Pompano Beach. Slavin previously served as principal of Boca Raton-based Mivo Development Group, the release shows. 

Ahead of completing the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Palm Beach Gardens later this year, Catalfumo Companies hired Monique Nussbaum as the condominium’s general manager, according to a news release. Nussbaum was most recently general manager of operations for Privé at Island Estates in Aventura, where she oversaw five residential associations and managed amenities including a marina, spa and fitness center, the release shows. She previously spent more than a decade with the Ritz-Carlton brand, including as director of residences at the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Fort Lauderdale. 

In brokerage news, Re/Max Advance Realty is launching a new development division focused on South Florida’s luxury condo pipeline, according to a news release. The firm’s Pre-Construction Luxury Division will be led by Melanie De Armas, and the team will include Antonio Aguirre, Lana Caron, Fernando De Carolis, Julieta Rivero and Fabiola Rojas, the release shows.
