Wendy's is hiring a Chief Tasting Officer. Get paid $100K to eat burgers

If getting paid to review fast food sounds like a dream job, Wendy’s may have the perfect opportunity for you.

The fast food chain is officially hiring a Chief Tasting Officer, a remote position that pays $100,000 and centers on one key responsibility: tasting Wendy’s food and sharing opinions about it.

According to the company, the job is very real and designed for someone who brings personality, creativity and, of course, a love of burgers and fries.

The requirements are intentionally simple. Applicants need a functioning palate, comfort being on camera and the ability to talk about flavor with more depth than simply saying something tastes good.

In other words, if you have ever dipped fries into a Frosty and declared it a culinary masterpiece, you may already be qualified.

What the job actually entails

The Chief Tasting Officer will help shape the brand’s creative voice while sampling menu items and sharing feedback.

The company says the role could include filming vlog-style taste tests, exploring food trends and appearing in content or advertisements. Think less corporate boardroom and more food tasting with a camera rolling.

Travel requirements are minimal, though the role may occasionally involve visits to a local Wendy’s restaurant. Otherwise, much of the work can happen from home or, as the job listing jokingly suggests, from your couch.

A job for self-proclaimed “personality hires”

Beyond taste testing, the company is looking for someone with a strong personality who can connect with fans of the brand online.

Applicants are asked to submit a video explaining why they would be perfect for the role. Showing off Wendy’s food, restaurants or branding earns bonus points, but creativity is the real focus.

The company is also encouraging applicants to demonstrate their tasting skills and describe flavors in a memorable way.

What are the perks?

The position comes with a $100,000 salary along with some more unconventional benefits. Those include an official Wendy’s Chief Tasting Officer email signature and, perhaps most importantly, the opportunity to get paid to eat the chain’s food.

The listing also promises what it calls a Wendy’s-approved amount of chaos and career advancement in “bite leadership and sauce alignment.”
