Travis Kelce is shaking off retirement rumors for another year.
The 36-year-old tight end reportedly will return to the Kansas City Chiefs for his 14th NFL season on a one-year deal worth a max value of $15 million, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported, citing sources.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport first reported the news Monday just before the legal tampering period opened. Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast seemed to confirm the news by quoting Schefter’s contract post.
Kelce was named to the Pro Bowl for the 11th straight year in 2025, though his numbers continued to regress. He had 76 receptions (fewest since 2015) for 851 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs missed the postseason for the first time since 2014.
Returning to the Chiefs for 2026 is a somewhat bold decision for the three-time Super Bowl champion, who obviously would have plenty of options off the field if he retired.
Patrick Mahomes will be returning from a torn ACL suffered in December and the team is in the process of shedding salary, including star cornerback Trent McDuffie being traded to the Los Angeles Rams last week. The Chiefs went 6-11 last season, and just 6-8 with Mahomes starting.
Kelce’s off-field life includes a top sports podcast with his retired brother Jason Kelce, plus an upcoming wedding with music superstar Taylor Swift. Kelce could also become an NFL broadcaster when he retires, reports say.
For now, though, Kelce is going back to the place he’s called home since 2013.
