Another soccer legend is putting roots down in South Florida.

Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, known as Ronaldo, paid $7.8 million for a penthouse at Onda, a waterfront condo development at 1135 103rd Street. Property records show the developer sold the five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bathroom condo to a Delaware company managed by Ronaldo.

The retired striker, who played for his native country of Brazil, is considered one of the greatest players of all time. He’s an owner of the Spanish soccer team Real Valladolid.

His penthouse in Bay Harbor Islands spans just over 5,000 square feet. It traded for $1,500 per square foot. The developer, a joint venture between Ugo Colombo’s CMC Group and Valerio Morabito’s Morabito Properties, completed the eight-story, 41-unit condominium in 2024.

South Florida has become more of a magnet for soccer players following the launch of the Major League Soccer team Inter Miami, led by team owners David Beckham, billionaires Jorge and Jose Mas and others, and its star players, including Lionel Messi. The region will also host matches during the upcoming 2026 World Cup.

Earlier this year, Beckham and his wife, Victoria Beckham, sold their penthouse at One Thousand Museum in downtown Miami for $25 million. The couple owns a waterfront mansion on North Bay Road in Miami Beach.

Messi and his former teammate Sergio Busquets each purchased homes in Fort Lauderdale and the surrounding area. Busquets sold his Fort Lauderdale home to Florida Panthers forward Sam Reinhart for $9 million in January.

The Mas brothers, Beckham and their partners are building Miami Freedom Park, a $1 billion mixed-use project near Miami International Airport that includes Inter Miami’s future stadium. The city of Miami is also planning to move its city hall to the project.
