The “Scooby-Doo” live-action series has found its Daphne.
Mckenna Grace has been cast as the stylish red-headed character that forms part of the Scooby Gang. The 19-year-old actor is the first star to land a major role in the upcoming Netflix show.
Grace confirmed the casting news on her Instagram Feb. 17, sharing a screenshot of a Deadline article about the series, as well as a photo of herself as a young child dressed as Daphne Blake.
“Oh my jeepers,” Grace wrote, adding a crying emoji and purple heart. “I can’t believe life is real I could cry all over again just looking at this announcement. So thankful, SO excited.”
She also added a blue car, magnifying glass and another purple heart at the end of her post.
Netflix announced plans to create an eight-episode live-action version of the popular animated series in March 2025.
The show is set to be a “modern reimagining” where “old friends Shaggy and Daphne team up at summer camp with scientific townie Velma and the strange but handsome Fred to solve the mystery of a lonely lost Great Dane puppy — who may have witnessed a supernatural murder,” the show’s description reads.
Grace is no stranger to the “Scooby-Doo” universe. The actor voiced young Daphne in the 2020 animated film “Scoob!”
Grace most recently starred in “Regretting You” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.” She’s also set to appear in the upcoming “Scream 7” sequel and in “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” as Maysilee Donner.
Now with casting underway for the “Scooby-Doo” series, expect to hear who will join Grace as Shaggy, Velma and Fred next.
