Katherine Short, the daughter of actor Martin Short, has died at age 42, according to his representative.
“It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,” the representative said in a statement. “The Short family is devastated by this loss, and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”
Police responded to her Hollywood home at about 7 p.m. Monday after receiving a request for a welfare check, LAPD sources told NBC4 Investigates. A friend had not heard from Short in over 24 hours and was concerned about her, the sources said.
Officers found a note on the door. Short, who was found in the home, died by suicide, the sources said.
Martin Short’s wife of 30 years, Nancy Dolman, died in August 2010 from ovarian cancer at age 58. The couple had three children, Katherine, Oliver and Henry.
