When 135 million people tuned in to watch the Super Bowl halftime show Sunday, they were captivated by Bad Bunny as well as the little boy who appeared in the show, receiving the Grammy Award from the global superstar.
Lincoln Fox Ramadan’s smile captured many people’s hearts as some initially thought he was Liam Conejo Ramos, the little boy detained by ICE in Minnesota.
In fact, the 5-year-old is a child actor and model from Costa Mesa, California, and his parents said he rehearsed 17 days straight to nail the performance of a lifetime.
“I jumped off the couch. I looked at Bad Bunny. He gave me the trophy. I smiled very big, and I wait for the camera to move. And I walked back,” Lincoln described his halftime show routine to NBC Los Angeles Monday.
The practice paid off as Lincoln, who landed the gig after his mom applied for it, delivered the performance of portraying a young Bad Bunny and accepting the Grammy Award from his older self.
“He came running off the field, ‘Daddy, daddy, I did a good job.'” Islam Ramadan, Lincoln’s father, recalled the moment when the boy wrapped up the show. “(I said), ‘Yes, you did amazing.'”
Unlike millions of viewers who were dazzled by Bad Bunny, the 5-year-old did not know who the Grammy Award-winning artist was when he first landed the gig.
“I said, ‘Baby, you’re going to perform with Bad Bunny.’ He was like, ‘Why is he bad?'” Erika Ramadan, Lincoln’s mother, recalled her conversation with her son when he got the part.
His parents said they hope Lincoln will one day understand how big of a part he played as his mother’s family immigrated from Argentina while his dad’s family moved from Egypt for the American dream.
“He represents diversity. That’s what we believe our country should be about, we should be fostering,’ Islam Ramadan said. “He may not understand it now, but maybe later on when he looks back, he can appreciate the significance of what he represented in that moment.”
Bad Bunny, joined by many famous faces, took the stage during the big game between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.
